Security Top Tips – How to spot malware

Hi! Well, I first began my career as a Digital Forensics Investigator and Penetration Tester, and just before joining Stripe I was an Offensive Cyber Security Lead for a large organisation in the finance sector. Here I provided a range of services, majoring in incident response, recovery and remediation, cyber essentials certifications, social engineering and offensive testing engagements (to name a few). I’m also a GCHQ certified trainer for advanced cyber security courses, which has led multiple technical training delivery conversion programmes in the UK and overseas to both the private and public sector.
I’d previously worked with the management team on a former engagement which meant we already knew each other and had a strong relationship – This made the transition feel very natural for me! I also knew Stripe’s services well and was aware of the professionalism that came with them – They’re a great team and equally provide a great service… making the move a no-brainer!
So I’m their new Head of Cyber Security, currently I’m helping to develop their existing services, and support their security consultancy offering, essentially I’m here to lead on security advice and support.
When possible, I try to head to the coast, typically to Cornwall to surf! Due to the nature of our industry I try to avoid screens as much as possible when outside of work, and my ideal weekend would be at the local wave pool or walking the dogs.
This is a real tough one for me, I’d really like to meet Gary Vaynerchuck or Tony Robbins, as I listen to their podcasts so often and really interested in their ways of working, but if I was pushed it would have to be Edward Snowdon (the NSA whistle blower) – that period of time and the way things evolved is fascinating to me…
