Our own systems are set up and operated in ways to maximise energy efficiency, both on a day-to-day basis and in terms of prolonging the hardware’s life span. All defunct office materials are recycled where possible or disposed of responsibly in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive.
Our hosting infrastructure is built exclusively on HP Proliant Servers – the first of their type to qualify for the Energy Star, which is awarded for outstanding energy saving (on average 30%) over standard severs. Our servers are housed in a data centre owned by our hosting partner Pulsant, which was recently selected as a finalist in the Green IT Awards 2013.
Every day Stripe OLT’s staff walk, cycle (we are signed up to the government’s Cycle to Work scheme) or use public transport – whether we are travelling to our own offices or to yours. On the rare occasion a car is the only option, we use City Car Club, whose vehicles emit on average 37% less CO2 than the methods of transport they replace.
Naturally, we take part in all available local recycling schemes and consider the environment at every level of the running of our business. For example, we operate a paperless billing system and, unless otherwise requested, will engage in all written correspondence electronically, helping us to save a significant amount of paper every year.
